Goodridge Public School Announcement

March 15, 2020

Goodridge Public School will remain open on Monday, March 16th, and Tuesday, March, 17th for full student days.  As mandated by the governor, we will be closed for students on Wednesday, March 18th through Friday, March 27th. All events during this time are also canceled, except the school board meeting on Tuesday, March 17th at 7:00. School is planned to resume on Monday, March 30th. This is just a preliminary closure. We ask that you make plans for a potentially longer closure that may be mandated by the state of Minnesota.

  • Throughout the break (March 18th-27th) on weekdays, the school will be open from 8 till 4 to provide child care services for elementary-age children that have a parent in the medical field, law enforcement, or first responder and are unable to find care elsewhere. Please call the school on Monday if you are eligible and interested in receiving child care services.

  • We are also working on delivering meals to families on free and reduced lunch, and anyone else in need. If you are in need of the service please let us know by Monday or Tuesday.

  • Teachers will be sending work home with students on Tuesday. The government is not requiring us to have students do work over the break, but we are planning ahead for a potentially longer closure if necessary. Your students' teachers will be working with you as needed in the coming days/ weeks

Please remember the basics for prevention – thorough and frequent hand washing, covering sneezes and coughs, cleaning frequently touched surfaces,  practicing social distancing (maintain a 3 – 6-foot separation between you and others) and staying away from large gatherings of people.

As more information is made available, we will post on our website, on Facebook, and through School Messenger.

Thanks,

Tomas Loberg, Supt.

The 6th Grade class trip is still on as scheduled due to the fact that it is still a couple of months away, but we will continue to monitor it at this time. Current MDH Guidelines do not recommend taking students to an infected area; however, hopefully, things will improve by then.

The winter sports banquet will be scheduled later this spring due to guidelines by the Minnesota Department of Health on event size and spacing.
